United Kingdom: Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape

Yesterday I got many postcards and many of them were from new countries.

One card was my first card from the United Kingdom.

The United Kingdom is an insular state on the British Isles consisting of Northern Ireland, Wales, Scotland and England. The United Kingdom is a member of the UN, the EU, the NATO and the OECD. The United Kingdom has also nuclear weapons and is a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council. Furthermore it is a member of the G8.

The postcard shows the Botallack Mine, the Levant Beam Engine, the Wheal Coates and Rinsey. All this mines are part of the Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape. The main products of the mines were copper and tin. The development of the region was exemplary for the industrialisation of England. The Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape is since 2006 a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
