Christmas Island: Red Crab Migration

Today I got my first card from Christmas Island.

Christmas Island is an Australian territory in the Indian Ocean. It was discovered on Christmas Day 1643. Its capital is Flying Fish Cove.

The card shows Christmas Island Red Crabs on their annual migration. The Christmas Island Red Crab is an endemic species of land crab living only on Christmas Island and the Cocos (Keeling) Islands. The adult crabs migrate every year from the forests to the ocean to lay their eggs. After mating the male crabs go back to the forest and the females brood their eggs and spawn them. After several stages in the ocean migrate also the tiny crabs to the forest. Dangers on the journey are the hot sun and the road traffic.

With nice stamps and even a matching one:
Gemstones of the Chinese Zodiac (two from set of fourteen) (issued 08-01-2015)
Christmas (from set of two) (issued 30-10-2014)
Red Crab Migration (from set of two) (issued 12-08-2014)
with a special postmark showing also a Red Crab

Thank You very much David!
