Germany: German Karakul Sheep

Today I got six postcards: four from Germany, one from Malaysia and one from Australia.

One of the German cards shows a flock of German Karakul sheep. The Karakul sheep is a breed of domestic sheep originating from Central Asia. At the beginning of the 20th century the first Karakul sheep came to Germany for examining the lambskins for the fur production. After the wearing of fur got out of style the live stock in Germany went down. Today is the German Karakul sheep on the red list of the GEH, Germany's national association for the conservation of historic and endangered domestic animal breeds. For 2015 the breed is its Endangered breed of the year.
I got this card at the Archefest in Steinlah in Lower Saxony.

Stamp:
Felix the Rabbit (from set of two) (issued 02-03-2015)
