Germany: Max and Moritz

Today I got six postcards: two from Germany, one from Belgium, one from the Vatican, one from Canada and one from Australia.

One of the cards from Germany shows Max and Moritz. Max and Moritz are the main characters in the German illustrated story "Max and Moritz - A Story of Seven Boyish Pranks" by Wilhelm Busch. The story is part of Busch's early works and was published in 1865. It is about the seven pranks played by Max and Moritz on other people. At the end of the story, in the seventh prank, Max and Moritz are killed by a farmer taking them in a sack to the mill and chopping them up. The story is a proud part of German culture and is still read to children by their parents. Max and Moritz became a symbol of mischief.
I bought this card when I recently visited the Wilhelm Busch Museum in Hanover.

With a matching stamp:
150 years Max and Moritz (issued 02-04-2015)
with First Day Special Postmark
