China: Confucius Temple in Qufu

Yesterday I got a postcard from China.

It shows the Confucius Temple in Qufu. The Confucius Temple was firstly built in BCE 478 to commemorate Confucius, the great philosopher, politician and educator from the 6th and 5th century BCE. Confucius was born in Qufu. Today there are more than 100 buildings in the temple. Since 1994 are the Temple and Cemetery of Confucius and the Kong Family Mansion in Qufu on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
