Indonesia: Ujung Kulon National Park

Yesterday I got four postcards: one from Indonesia, one from Norway, one from Thailand and one from Croatia.

The card from Indonesia shows various views of the Ujung Kulon National Park. The Ujung KUlon National Park was established in 1980 and is thus the oldest national park in Indonesia. It includes the largest remaining lowland rainforest in Java and is known as repository for much of Java’s flora and fauna, after all humans were evacuated after the explosion of the Krakatau in 1883. The park is also known as last refuge of the Javan Rhinoceros, one of the most endangered animals in the World. The park houses the last 40 to 60 individuals. Since 1991 is the Ujung Kulon National Park on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

With nice matching stamps:
WWF - Rhinoceros (two from set of six) (issued 02-10-1996)
Ujung Kulon National Park (from set of fourteen) (issued 18-06-2012)

Thank You very much Shinta!
