Poland: Kraków

Last Saturday I got two postcards: one from Poland and one from Finland.

The card from Poland shows the Main Square of Kraków. Kraków is the second largest and one of the oldest cities in Poland. It is an important academic, cultural and economic centre. In 1364 one of the oldest universities in the World was founded in Kraków and until 1569 it was the capital of the Kingdom of Poland. The Historic Centre of Kraków was in 1978 one of the first sites to be added to the UNESCO World Heritage List. In 2000 was Kraków the European Capital of Culture.
