France: Strasbourg

On 12th September I got a postcard from France.

It shows various views of Strasbourg. Strasbourg is the capital and largest city of the Grand Est Region. For centuries it was disputed between France and Germany and often changed between the two countries. After World War II the city became a symbol of the French-German reconciliation and the European integration. It is now home to the Council of Europe, the European Court of Human Rights and the European Parliament and as such it is considered to be one of the Capitals of the European Union. The Grande Île of Strasbourg is since 1988 on the UNESCO World Heritage List, in 2017 also the Neustadt was added.

Stamp:
EUROPA (issued 13-05-2019)
with a special postmark from the philatelic shop in Strasbourg

Thank You very much William!
