USA: Times Square

On 24th June I got three postcards: two from the USA and one from Austria.

One of the cards from the USA shows the Times Square in New York City. The Times Square is the junction of the Broadway and the Seventh Avenue and one of the busiest pedestrian areas as well as most popular tourist destinations in the World. I guess everyone has already seen this place on TV.

The card was sent with the interesting stamp about Chien-Shiung Wu (issued 11-02-2021) and its First Day Special Postmark. Wu was a Chinese-American particle and experimental physicist who made significant contributions in the fields of nuclear and particle physics. She was born in China's Jiangsu Province in 1912, but in 1936 moved to the USA, where she remained until her death in 1997. As part of the Manhattan Project Wu helped to develop the process for separating uranium into uranium-235 and uranium-238 isotopes by gaseous diffusion, hence the postmark includes the chemical symbol of uranium. Wikipedia lists "First Lady of Physics", "Chinese Madame Curie" and "Queen of Nuclear Research" as her nicknames.

Thank You very much Yue!
