Brazil: Salvador de Bahia

On Monday I got three postcards: one from Brazil, one from Taiwan and one from Germany.

The card from Brazil shows the coloured houses of Salvador. Salvador was founded in 1549 and became the first capital of Brazil. It is one of the oldest colonial cities in the Americas and was also the first slave market in the New World. It remained the capital of Brazil until 1763. Today is Salvador the capital of the Brazilian state of Bahia and the third largest city of Brazil. The Historic Centre of Salvador de Bahia is since 1985 on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Stamps:

Thank You very much Silvia!
