Austria: Saint Stephen's Cathedral

On 24th June I got three postcards: one from Austria and two from the USA.

The card from Austria shows the Saint Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna. The Saint Stephen's Cathedral is the seat of the Archbishop of Vienna. It is one of the most important Gothic buildings in Austria and a well-known landmark of Vienna.

On this card again the special postmark about the 60th anniversary of the Vienna Summit of John F. Kennedy and Nikita Khrushchev was used, but this time also two personalised stamps about the event were used. The stamp image shows the two most powerful men of 1961 together with Austrian President Adolf Schärf. Shown on labels are also the flags of the Soviet Union and the USA. During his stay in Vienna Kennedy had actually visited the Saint Stephen's Cathedral for the Sunday Mass.

Thank You very much Anita!
