Inside were postcards from five new countries: Aruba, Barbados, Curacao, Dominica and the US Virgin Islands.
Aruba is an island country in the Caribbean. It is a part of the Dutch Caribbean and is one of the four constituent countries that form the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
The card shows various views of Oranjestad, the capital and largest city of Aruba.
Barbados is an island country in the Caribbean. In 1966 became Barbados independent from the United Kingdom. It is an important tourist destination in the Caribbean.
The card shows the Parliament Buildings in Bridgetown. Bridgetown is the capital and largest city of Barbados. It is also an important port, especially for cruise ships, and the economic centre of Barbados. It is an outstanding example of British colonial architecture. Historic Bridgetown and its Garrison are since 2011 on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Curacao is an island country in the Caribbean. It is a part of the Dutch Caribbean and is one of the four constituent countries that form the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
The card shows views of the city quarters of Punda and Otrobanda in Willemstad. Willemstad is the capital of Curacao and the largest city of the Dutch Caribbean. Until 2010 it was also the capital of the Netherlands Antilles. The Historic Area of Willemstad is since 1997 on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Dominica is an island country in the Caribbean. In 1978 Dominica became independent from the United Kingdom. Its capital is Roseau.
The card shows the Trafalgar Falls in the Morne Trois Pitons National Park. The Morne Trois Pitons National Park was established in 1975 and is thus the oldest national park of Dominica. The park is a significant area of volcanic activity. Among many other species of animals it is home the Sisserou Parrot, Dominica's national bird. Since 1997 is the Morne Trois Pitons National Park on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The US Virgin Islands are a group of islands in the Caribbean. They are an organised, unincorporated United States territory.
The card shows the Government House in Charlotte Amalie. Charlotte Amelie is a town on Saint Thomas. It is the capital of the US Virgin Islands. Today it is one of the most important ports for cruise ships in the Caribbean, but once it was a haven for pirates.
