On Wednesday I got two postcards: one from Thailand and one from the USA.
The card from Thailand shows the Phra Ram Ratchaniwet Palace in Petchaburi. The Phra Ram Ratchaniwet Palace was built between 1910 and 1916 by the German architect Karl Siegfried Döhring. Actually planned as rainy season retreat for Rama V, the King never saw it as he already died in 1910. It was built in a combination of Art Noveau and Baroque architecture and is one of many Thai buildings from that period with a European influence. Today it houses a museum.
Stamps:
Palaces (from set of six) (issued 05-12-1990)
Temples (from set of four) (issued 17-06-2002)
82nd Birthday of King Bhumibol (issued 05-12-2009)
Thank You very much Jobbo!
