On Tuesday I was in Hildesheim and Hanover to see the new special exhibition "The Turn of Eras 1400", which is shown as cooperation between the Cathedral Museum in Hildesheim and the Lower Saxony State Museum in Hanover.
The exhibition part in Hildesheim presents artworks from around the year 1400 and places them in the context of a time characterized by radical changes with the aim to present Hildesheim's role as European metropolis of the early 15th century.
The exhibition part in Hanover is centred on the Golden Board of Lüneburg, which was recently restored in the course of six years and which they describe as European masterpiece. In the exhibition this artwork is compared to other pieces of art from this time, of which many are loans from other international museums.
