When I was in Austria last week, I made a day trip to Kufstein.
Kufstein is a city near Austria's border with Germany. It is the second largest city in the Austrian State of Tyrol and the administrative centre of the District of Kufstein.
The Kufstein Fortress was first mentioned in the 13th century. In its history it was often besieged and its possesion changed between Austria and Bavaria. In the 18th and 19th century it was used as prison. Today it is one of the most famous sights of Tyrol. It now also houses the City Museum of Kufstein.
