On Wednesday I got three postcards: one from the USA, one from Germany and one from France.
The card from the USA shows a World War I poster. It was created by Walter Whitehead in 1918 and advertises the purchase of liberty bonds.
Liberty Bonds were war bonds sold by the USA to defray the costs of World War I. The purchasers were able to repurchase the liberty bonds for the original price plus interest. They were urgently required to pay for the warfare and they were highly advertised.
