Austria: Gustav Klimt in Unterach am Attersee

On Tuesday I got three postcards: two from Austria and one from Latvia.

One of the cards from Austria shows Gustav Klimt in Unterach am Attersee. Unterach am Attersee is a village in the Austrian State of Upper Austria. Gustav Klimt was an Austrian painter. He was born in 1862 and died in 1918. As one of the most famous members of the Vienna Secession movement he is known for his paintings of the female body. Between 1900 and 1916 he spent his summer months at the Attersee, where he also painted landscapes.

With a related stamp:
Austria-Japan Year (from set of two) (issued 16-10-2009)
It is a joint issue with Japan.
The stamp shows the oil painting Emilie Flöge by Gustav Klimt. Emilie Flöge was an Austrian designer and businesswoman and member of the Viennese Bohemian and Fin de siècle circles. She was the life companion of Gustav Klimt. The painting is today shown at the Wien Museum.

Thank You very much Ingrid!
