On 31st July I got two postcards from France.
One of them shows Orléans. Orléans is a big city and capital of the Centre-Val de Loire Region. Home to an impressive cathedral and one of Europa's oldest universities, the city is probably best known for Joan of Arc, the Maid of Orléans. As part of the Loire Valley between Sully-sur-Loire and Chalonnes is the historic city of Orléans since 2000 on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The stamp used here is the second in the series about the reconstruction of the Cathedral Notre Dame in Paris. This one shows a widow of the cathedral and was again issued in a souvenir sheet. You can see the whole sheet here on my stamp blog. Cancelled was the card at the philatelic shop in Orléans.
Thank You very much William!
