Austria: Austrian Federal Railways

On 23rd August I got two postcards: one from Austria and one from Japan.

The card from Austria shows an old advertising poster of the Austrian Federal Railways. The Austrian Federal Railways, mainly known as ÖBB, is the national railway system of Austria and owned entirely by the Republic of Austria. It was formed in 1923 as successor to the Imperial Royal Austrian State Railways. Due to its punctuality, reliability and frequency of trains it is considered to be among the best railway operators in Europa.

The stamp celebrates the European Year of Rail (issued 20-08-2021). The European Commission chose this theme for 2021 to "shin[e] a light on one of the most sustainable, innovative and safest transport modes we have". Bulgaria, Poland, Portugal and Romania also issued stamps about this theme, but here I have to say that I like the postmark more than the stamp itself.

Thank You very much Anita!
