Austria: Spinnerin am Kreuz

On 30th August I got two postcards from Austria.

One of them shows the Spinnerin am Kreuz in Vienna. The Spinnerin am Kreuz is a Gothic stone sculpture dating back to the 14th century. Its original purpose was to mark the southern border of the city of Vienna, nowadays however Vienna grew beyond this point and the sculpture is located in a densely built-up area.

The souvenir sheet used here is from a series about historic mail vehicles and shows a mail coach next to the Spinnerin am Kreuz. It was issued on 27th August 2021. As you can see, this card is actually from Vienna's City Museum.

Thank You very much Anita!
