23rd June 2022: Plant Photography, Japan

The stamp celebrates the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Mongolia and its shape imitates a traditional yurt.

Thank You very much Keiko!

Italy: Manarola

On 19th May I got a postcards from Italy.

It shows Manarola. Manarola is the second-smallest of the famous Cinque Terre towns frequented by tourists, but maybe is also the oldest in the region. Before you wonder why this looks familiar, the Cinque Terre towns including Manarola were the inspiration for the town of Portorosso in the 2021 animated film Luca. Since 1997 are Portovenere, the Cinque Terre and the Islands of Palmaria, Tino and Tinetto on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

A round stamp about the Centenary of the Foundation of the Mosaic School of Friuli (issued 22-04-2022) was used here and got cancelled in the philatelic shop of La Spezia.

Thank You very much William!

Poland: Jewish Historical Institute

On 12th April I got two postcards from Poland.

One of them shows the Jewish Historical Institute in Warsaw. The Jewish Historical Institute is a public cultural and research institution dealing with the history of Jews in Poland and Jewish culture. It was founded in 1947 and is housed in the building of the former Main Judaic Library

Stamps about the Year of the Ox (issued 26-02-2021) and the Year of the Tiger (issued 01-02-2022) were used on this card. Four smaller values about Rail Crossing Safety Awareness (issued 30-05-2020) and the 40th anniversary of the Solidarity Union of Farmers (issued 12-05-2021) had to be used as well to reach the right amount of postage.

Thank You very much Marcel!

Austria: Ice Skates and Wool Cap

On 18th February I got two postcards from Austria.

One of them shows ice skates and a wool cap.

A matching stamp of a wool cap was used here with its First Day Special Postmark. The stamp is shaped and printed with a finishing that evokes a woolen touch.

Thank You very much Anita!

cover from Russia

On 20th December I got a cover from Russia.

It was sent with the cute Russian Christmas stamp (issued 09-12-2021) and its First Day Special Postmark.

In the cover was this card of a monastery or church. I assume it is in Russia, but unfortunately the photo function of Google Translate only emits nonsense when I used it on the text on the front side.

Also in the cover was this beautiful set about Modern Russian Trains (issued 02-08-2021).

Thank You very much Elena!
