Denmark: Christiansfeld

Today I got three postcards: one from Denmark, one from Poland and one from Germany.

The card from Denmark shows Christiansfeld. Christiansfeld is a town in Southern Jutland. It was founded in 1773 by the Moravian Church. The town was built between 1773 and 1800 following a strict city plan. Today is Christiansfeld's old town a popular tourist destination and it is known for its honey cakes. Since last month is the Moravian Church Settlement in Christiansfeld on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Denmark: Tivoli Gardens

On Thursday I got a postcard from Denmark.

It shows a Pierrot from the Tivoli Gardens. Tivoli Gardens is an amusement park in Copenhagen. It opened in 1843 and is thus the second oldest amusement park in the World. It is also the fourth most visited amusement park in Europe.

Denmark: Abbey Church of Horsens

On Thursday I got two postcards: one from Denmark and one from Taiwan.

The card from Denmark shows the altar of the abbey church in Horsens. The abbey church in Horsens was built in 1270 and since the Reformation it has been used as parish church of Horsens.

Denmark: Horsens

Today I got seven postcards. One of them is from Denmark.

It shows various views of Horsens. Horsens is a harbour town at the east coast of Jutland. Horsens is a location of metal and tobacco industry and known for having presented internationally known artists.

Denmark: Koldinghus

I just returned from my city trip to Vienna and during my trip arrived many postcards. One of the cards is from Denmark.

It shows the Koldinghus. The Koldinghus was built in the 13th century and is now used as museum.

Denmark: Glud Museum

Today I got two postcards: one from Denmark and one from China.

The card from Denmark shows the Glud Museum. The Glud Museum is an open-air museum presenting Denmark's rural life from 1650 to 1950. At the museum there are 14 houses equipped with original furniture.

Denmark: Blåvand

The card from Denmark comes from Blåvand. Blåvand is a resort at the westernmost point of Denmark. On the card you can see the 38m high Blåvand Lighthouse.

Denmark: The Little Mermaid in Copenhagen

Today I got three postcards. One of them was my first postcard from Denmark. This week I bought a new album for bigger postcards, so now I can collect them too. The card shows the Little Mermaid in Copenhagen. The bronze is 1,25 meters high and thus the smallest town's landmark in the world. The design was made by Edvard Eriksen. The ideal for the bronze is Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale "The Little Mermaid".
