Germany: St. Jacob's church in Köthen

On Tuesday I got not only four postcards but also a cover from Germany.

Inside were two postcards.
One of them shows the St. Jacob's church in Köthen in Saxony-Anhalt. Its crypt includes the graves of the Dukes of Anhalt-Köthen. It is part of the Lutherweg.

On the back of the card is a map of the Lutherweg.

The other card I will use later to get a special postmark.

Germany: Pfahlbaumuseum Unteruhldingen

Today I got a postcard from Germany.

It shows the Pfahlbaumuseum Unteruhldingen in Baden-Württemberg. The Pfahlbaumuseum Unteruhldingen is an archaeological open air museum on the Lake Constance. It was opened in 1922 and shows reconstructions of prehistoric pile dwellings from the Neolithic Stone Age and Bronze Age. Today it has 290000 visitors per year. Since 2011 are the Prehistoric Pile dwellings around the Alps situated in Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Slovenia and Switzerland on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

World War I Centenary and Chinese New Year of the Isle of Man

Yesterday I got the stamps of the Isle of Man I ordered on line.

Among them were the stamps about the World War I Centenary. The stamps are the first of a five year series. The theme of the 2014 stamps (issued 19-02-2014) is Life in the Trenches. The stamps show photos taken during the war.

One of the stamps shows a photo taken during the Christmas Truce.
On 24th December 1914 and on the next days soldiers of the German Empire and Great Britain on the Western Front stopped the war and exchanged small gifts. The Christmas Truce was not authorised by the level of command. After a few days they began again to fight.

The accompanied miniature sheet (issued 19-02-2014) shows trench art.

I also bought the miniature sheet of the Year of the Snake (issued 08-02-2013) and of the Year of the Sheep (issued 02-01-2015).

Turkey: Ankara

Today I got ten postcards: one from Turkey, five from Germany, one from Indonesia, one from Taiwan, one from South Korea and one from the Philippines.

The card from Turkey shows various views of Ankara. Ankara is the capital of Turkey and also Turkey's second largest city.

100th Year of Battle of Sarikamish (issued 22-12-2014)
The Battle of Sarikamish was fought between the Ottoman Empire and the Russian Empire at the Caucasus Campaign from 22nd December 1914 to 15th January 1915. It ended with a victory of the Imperial Russian Army.

Philippines: Manila

Today I got ten postcards: one from the Philippines, one from Turkey, five from Germany, one from Indonesia, one from Taiwan and one from South Korea.

The card from the Philippines shows an aerial view of the Roxas Boulevard in Manila. Manila is the capital city and second largest city of the Philippines.

South Korea: Seohae Bridge

Today I got ten postcards: one from South Korea, one from the Phillipines, one from Turkey, five from Germany, one from Indonesia and one from Taiwan.

The card from South Korea shows the Seohae Bridge. The Seohae Bridge is a cable-stayed bridge connecting Pyongtaek and Dangjin. It was built from 1993 to 2000.

Indonesia: Lorentz National Park

Today I got ten postcards: one from Indonesia, one from Taiwan, one from South Korea, one from the Philippines, one from Turkey and five from Germany.

The card from Indonesia shows the Lorentz National Park. The Lorentz National Park is the largest protected area in South-East Asia. Since 1999 is the Lorentz National Park on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Germany: Cecilienhof Palace

Today I got ten postcards: five from Germany, one from Indonesia, one from Taiwan, one from South Korea, one from the Philippines and one from Turkey.

One of the cards from Germany shows the Cecilienhof Palace in the New Garden in Potsdam. Cecilienhof Palace was built at the behest of Emperor Wilhelm II for his son Crown Prince Wilhelm and his wife Duchess Cecilie of Mecklenburg-Schwerin from 1912 onwards and is therefore the last palace built by the House of Hohenzollern. In 1945 the Potsdam Conference was held in Cecilienhof Palace. Since 1990 is Cecilienhof Palace as one of the palaces of Potsdam on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Germany: Schneeberg

Today I got ten postcards: five from Germany, one from Indonesia, one from Taiwan, one from South Korea, one from the Philippines and one from Turkey.

One of the cards from Germany shows the old town of Schneeberg in the Ore Mountains. The old town of Schneeberg seeks as part of the Mining Cultural Landscape Erzgebirge/Krušnohoří for the inclusion on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

EDIT:
The Erzgebirge/Krušnohoří Mining Region is one of the new UNESCO World Heritage Sites of 2019.

Germany: Mines of Rammelsberg

Today I got ten postcards: five from Germany, one from Indonesia, one from Taiwan, one from South Korea, one from the Philippines and one from Turkey.

One of the cards from Germany shows the Mines of Rammelsberg. The mining at the Rammelsberg was first mentioned in 968 and was continued until 1988 when it was ended because of depletion of the deposit. Mined were mineral ores for the production of silver, lead, copper, zinc and others metals. After the shut-down of the mines a unique museum was created. Today are the Mines of Rammelsberg a National Geotope, an Anchor Point of the European Route of Industrial Heritage and since 1992 a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

I sent this card to me after I recently visited Goslar.

On the backside I also affixed the stamp of the Harzer Wandernadel No. 91 (Rammelsberg).

At the museum shop of the Rammelsberg I bought some other cards showing the surface plant and the underground.
One of them shows the Headframe.

Two of them show the Roeder-gallery. The water wheels in the Roeder-gallery were used for the drainage of the mines and for the ore mining.

The last card shows the mine train.

Germany: Goslar

Today I got ten postcards: five from Germany, one from Indonesia, one from Taiwan, one from South Korea, one from the Philippines and one from Turkey.

One of the cards from Germany shows Goslar. Goslar is a city in Lower Saxony. Since 1992 is the Historic Town of Goslar on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

I sent this card to me after I recently visited Goslar.

When I was in Goslar I also bought postcards showing famous sights.
Two of them show the marketplace.

The other two cards show the Imperial Palace of Goslar. The Imperial Palace of Goslar was the favourite residence of the Salian emperors. It is the oldest, largest and best-preserved secular building in Germany. On the card you can see very small the two replicas of the Brunswick Lion.

Singapore: Postcrossing Meet-up

Today I got five postcards: two from Singapore, one from Russia, one from France and one from Lithuania.

One of the cards from Singapore is the official card of Singapore's 4th Postcrossing Meet-up. The Meet-up took place on 25th January 2015 at the Singapore Philatelic Museum. The Singapore Philatelic Museum was opened in 1995 and has exhibitions about the postal history of Singapore and its stamps.

On the backside are the signatures of all attendees.

Singapore: Places of Worship

Today I got five postcards: two from Singapore, one from Russia, one from France and one from Lithuania.

One of the cards from Singapore shows various places of worship in Singapore. Singapore is the World's most religiously diverse nation. The most followed religion in Singapore is Buddhism followed by Islam, Protestantism and Taoism.
