Spain: Tholos de El Romeral

On Friday I got two postcards: one from Spain and one from Belgium.

The card from Spain shows the Tholos de El Romeral. The Tholos de El Romeral is a burial site built circa 1800 BCE. It is one of the most important examples of European Megalithism. As part of the Antequera Dolmens Site it is since last month on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Germany: Ozeaneum

On Thursday I got two postcards from Germany.

One of them shows the Ozeaneum in Stralsund. The Ozeaneum is one of the four houses of the German Oceanographic Museum. It was opened in 2008 and houses 39 aquaria. In 2010 it received the European Museum of the Year Award.

Germany: Eichstätt

On Thursday I got two postcards from Germany.

One of them shows various views of Eichstätt. Eichstätt is a city in the Altmühl Valley in the German State of Bavaria. It is the seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Eichstätt. The Archaeopteryx was discovered near Eichstätt. The Willibaldsburg (upper right corner) was the representative castle of Eichstätt's prince-bishops. Today it houses the Jura Museum.

Singapore: Sentosa

Last Wednesday I got two postcards: one from Singapore and one from Austria.

The card from Singapore shows an illustration of Sentosa. Sentosa is a small island, which can be easily reached from the Singapore mainland. In the 1970s it was developed as resort island and today it is home to many attractions.

Austria: Sankt Pölten

Last Wednesday I got two postcards: one from Austria and one from Singapore.

The card from Austria shows various views of Sankt Pölten. Sankt Pölten is one of the oldest cities and also the ninth largest city in Austria. Since 1986 it is the capital of the Austrian State of Lower Austria.

Croatia: Krapina Neanderthal Museum

Last Tuesday I got five postcards: one from Croatia, one from Japan, one from Indonesia and two from China.

The card from Croatia is from the Krapina Neanderthal Museum. The Krapina Neanderthal Museum was opened in 2010 near the site in Krapina where the Neanderthals remains were discovered. It focuses on the prehistory and protohistory of the humanity and the Neanderthals of Krapina. It is considered to be one of the most interesting evolutionary museums in Europe.

China: Shennongjia

Last Tuesday I got five postcards: two from China, one from Croatia, one from Japan and one from Indonesia.

One of the cards from China shows a view of Shennongjia. Shennongjia is a forestry district in the Hubei province. It is the home of many rare animals and was the object of international plant collecting expeditions in the 19th and 20th centuries. Since last month is Hubei Shennongjia on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

The card is prepaid and was added with two other stamps including a related one:

China: Rock Paintings of Hua Mountain

Last Tuesday I got five postcards: two from China, one from Croatia, one from Japan and one from Indonesia.

One of the cards from China shows the Rock Paintings of Hua Mountain. The Rock Paintings of Hua Mountain were created between the 5th century BCE and the 2nd century CE. They are the only remains of the bronze drum culture today. The Zuojiang Huashan Rock Art Cultural Landscape is since last month on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Indonesia: Pura Ulun Danu Bratan

Last Tuesday I got five postcards: one from Indonesia, two from China, one from Croatia and one from Japan.

The card from Indonesia shows the Pura Ulun Danu Bratan. The Pura Ulun Danu Bratan is a major Shivaite and water temple on Bali. It is located in Lake Bratan, a main source of irrigation. As part of the Cultural Landscape of the Bali Province it is since 2012 on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Japan: Ogaki Festival

Last Tuesday I got five postcards: one from Japan, one from Indonesia, two from China and one from Croatia.

The card from Japan shows the Ogaki Festival. The Ogaki Festival is held every year in the middle of May in the city of Ogaki in the Gifu prefecture.

Italy: Castello Estense in Ferrara

On 6th August I got a postcard from Italy.

It shows the Castello Estense in Ferrara. Ferrara is one of the few Italian cities, which was not founded by the Romans. During the Renaissance, when the city was ruled by the House of Este, it became the World's first city with a modern town planning. Since 1995 is the Renaissance City of Ferrara on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

India: Sundarbans National Park

On 4th August I got four postcards: one from India, one from Finland and two from Austria.

The card from India shows a Tiger in the Sundarbans National Park. The Sundarbans are located in Bangladesh and India. They are the largest mangrove forest in the World and are known for their biodiversity. The Sundarbans National Park in India was established in 1984. It is one of the largest reserves for the Bengal tiger. The Sundarbans National Park is since 1987 on the UNESCO World Heritage List, while the Sundarbans in Bangladesh were added in 1997.

On 4th August I got four postcards: two from Austria, one from India and one from Finland

One of the cards from Austria shows various Alpine animals and flowers.

I sent this card during my holidays in Austria.

I sent this card twice, once from Germany two months ago and once from Austria. Both times I used matching stamps. ^__^
