Germany: New Market and Saint Mary's Church in Rostock

On Wednesday I got two postcards from Germany.

One of them shows the New Market and the Saint Mary's Church in Rostock. The New Market is one of Rostock's three former market places. The Saint Mary's Church is the largest church in Rostock and one of the most important buildings in the style of the Brick Gothic.
I got this card a few weeks ago in a cover.

On Wednesday I also got a cover with another special postmark from Rostock. This one shows three historic ships from the city.

Japan: Yokosuka Museum of Art

On Monday I got a postcard from Japan.

It shows the Yokosuka Museum of Art. The Yokosuka Museum of Art was opened in 2007. Its collection includes around 5000 items.

Russia: 2018 FIFA World Cup

Last Wednesday I got a postcard from Russia.

It was printed for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. The 2018 FIFA World Cup started in Russia on the 14th June and will end on the 15th July. It is the first time that Russia hosts the FIFA World Cup. A total of 64 matches are played by 32 teams in twelve venues located in eleven cities, of which ten are in European Russia. Germany is the defending champion and Iceland and Panama made both their first appearances at a FIFA World Cup. The mascot is an anthropomorphic wolf called Zabivaka.

The stamp is about Group F, which consisted of Germany, Mexiko, South Korea and Sweden. Interestingly the card was sent on the day when Sweden defeated South Korea and arrived when Germany lost against South Korea and Sweden defeated Mexiko. Sweden was the best team of the group followed by Mexiko, South Korea and Germany.

USA: Frozen Treats

On Tuesday I got a postcard from the USA.

It shows three popsicles.


The card was signed during the Postcrossing Meet-up in Austin.

Slovenia: Škocjan Caves

Last Friday I got two postcards: one from Slovenia and one from Japan.

The card from Slovenia shows Schmidl's Hall at the Škocjan Caves. The Škocjan Caves are an exceptional system of limestone caves and one of the most famous caves in the World for the study of karstic phenomena. Since 1986 are the Škocjan Caves on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Japan: Osaka Science Museum

Last Friday I got two postcards: one from Japan and one from Slovenia.

The card from Japan shows an exhibit at the Osaka Science Museum. The Osaka Science Museum was opened in 1989 to mark the 100th anniversary of Osaka City. It shows many interactive science exhibits and daily live science shows.

France: Annecy

Last Thursday I got a postcard from France.

It shows various views of Annecy. Annecy is the largest city of Haute-Savoie department in southeastern France. It is a popular tourist destination and was described as Pearl of French Alps and Venice of the Alps.

Germany: Dechen Cave in Iserlohn

Last Tuesday I got two postcards from Germany.

One of them shows the Dechen Cave in Iserlohn. The Dechen Cave was discovered by two railway workers in 1868 and is today one of the most visited show caves in Germany. As the cave was discovered by railway workers, it was owned by the railway for more than hundred years and even got its own train station. The German Cave Museum was opened next to it in 2006.
I got this card a few weeks ago in a cover.

Germany: Worms Cathedral

Last Tuesday I got two postcards from Germany.

One of them shows the Worms Cathedral. The Worms Cathedral was built in the 12th and 13th century. It is an important Romanesque building and the smallest of the three Rhenish Imperial Cathedrals. The cathedral is associated with some great events of the European history including the Concordat of Worms which ended the Investiture controversy in 1122 and the Diet of Worms in 1521, during which Martin Luther was condemned as a heretic. Until its extinction in 1800 it was the seat of the Catholic Prince-Bishopric of Worms.

Last Tuesday I got not only two postcards but also a cover from Germany. It is prepaid and was issued to commemorate the 525th birthday of Anton Fugger. I used it to get a special postmark from Augsburg.


Stamp Order from Macao

Last Tuesday I got my stamp order from Macao.

Among others I bought a stamp set about the Year of the Rooster, which was issued on 5th January 2017.


I also bought a set of maxicards about Mulan. The stamps were issued on 8th April 2016.
