Philippines: Subic Bay

On 24th January I got six postcards: two from the Philippines, one from Russia, one from Hong Kong, one from Macau and one from Australia.

One of the cards from the Philippines shows Subic Bay. Subic Bay is a bay on the west coast of the island of Luzon. It was once the site of the major U.S. Naval Base Subic Bay, which was later turned into a freeport zone.

Estonian Year of the Pig FDC

On 13th July I got my stamp order from Estonia.

Among the things I ordered was a FDC of Estonia's Year of the Pig stamp (issued 05-02-2019).

My Stamp Order from the Åland Islands

On 25th June I got my stamp order from the Åland Islands.

Among the things I ordered were the new Postcrossing stamp (issued 07-06-2019) in mint condition, on FDC and on a maxicard. The FDC and the maxicard have two different special postmarks. The one on the FDC is the official First Day Special Postmark, while the one on the maxicard is a special postmark for the Postcrossing Meet-up in Mariehamn.

I also bought a souvenir sheet about the Year of the Pig (issued 01-11-2018).

USA: Year of the Pig

Last Tuesday I got three postcards: two from the USA and one from Germany.

One of the cards from the USA shows a traditional Chinese paper-cut of a pig.

On Saturday I got a cover from India.

Inside were the Year of the Pig stamps from Australia/Christmas Island (issued 08-01-2019), New Zealand (issued 16-01-2019) and Jersey (issued 04-01-2019).

Also inside was a special cover with a Postcrossing postmark from the POSTPEX 2018 in Bengaluru.

Indonesia: Tintin

On Saturday I got two postcards from Indonesia.

One of them shows Tintin, Snowy, Captain Haddock and a Komodo Dragon. Tintin and his friends came to Indonesia in their 22nd adventure, Flight 714. Although most of the story takes place on the fictious island Bompa, Tintin and the others have a stopover in Jakarta and also Bompa is inspired by Indonesia with a Komodo Dragon and a Proboscis Monkey living there.

Canada: Toronto

On Friday I got two postcards: one from Canada and one from Germany.

The card from Canada shows an aerial view of Toronto. Toronto is a city on Lake Ontario. It is Canada's largest city and the capital of the Canadian Province of Ontario. It is also a centre of business, finance, arts and culture.

Hong Kong: Lam Tsuen Wishing Tree

On Tuesday I got two postcards: one from Hong Kong and one from the USA.

The card from Hong Kong shows one of the Lam Tsuen Wishing Trees. The Lam Tsuen Wishing Trees are a popular shrine located near the Tin Hau Temple, that are frequented by tourists and locals during the Lunar New Year.

The card from Vietnam is a maxicard about the Year of the Pig. The stamp is from a set of two and was issued on the 1st December 2018.
