United Kingdom: Cefn Coed Colliery Museum

On Tuesday I got three postcards: one from the United Kingdom, one from the USA and one from South Korea.

The card from the United Kingdom shows the Cefn Coed Colliery Museum in Wales. The Cefn Coed Colliery Museum is a mining museum in a former coal mine opened in the 1920s. It is an anchor point on the European Route of Industrial Heritage.

United Kingdom: Beaumaris Castle

On Wednesday I got four postcards: two from the United Kingdom and two from Germany.

One of the cards from the United Kingdom shows Beaumaris Castle in Wales. Beaumaris Castle was built as part of Edward I's campaign to conquer North Wales after 1282. Although a huge sum was paid for the construction, it is not completed, but it is still considered to be one of the finest examples of late 13th century and early 14th century military architecture in Europa. As one of the Castles and Town Walls of King Edward in Gwynedd is Beaumaris Castle since 1986 on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Caernarfon Castle was built in the 13th century by King Edward I of England and served together with the surrounding town as the administrative centre of North Wales. As one of the Castles and Town Walls of King Edward in Gwynedd is Caernarfon Castle since 1986 on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

United Kingdom: Pontcysyllte Aqueduct

On 22nd July I got a postcard from the United Kingdom.

It shows the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct. The Pontcysyllte Aqueduct is a navigable aqueduct that carries the Llangollen Canal across the River Dee. It was finished in 1805 and is the longest and highest aqueduct in Great Britain. The aqueduct is considered to be a pioneering masterpiece of engineering and monumental metal architecture. Since 2009 is the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
