Japan: Totoro

On Monday I got a postcard from Japan.

It shows a scene from one of my favourite movies, My Neighbour Totoro by Hayao Miyazaki. This is an official card.

A selection of low value stamps was used as postage.

Japan: Mary and the Witch's Flower

On Monday I got two postcards: one from Japan and one from Lithuania.

The card from Japan shows a scene from Mary and the Witch's Flower. Mary and the Witch's Flower is the first feature movie of Studio Ponoc, which was founded by several former members of Studio Ghibli. It was published in 2017 and tells the story of a young girl who finds a mysterious flower that can give her the power to become a witch.

Japan: Dogo-onsen Hot Spring

Yesterday I got two postcards: one from Japan and one from Germany.

The card from Japan shows the Dogo-onsen Hot Spring in Matsuyama. The Dogo-onsen Hot Spring is the oldest spa in Japan and a popular tourist attraction. The Main Building is known as the model of the bathhouse in Studio Ghibli's Spirited Away.

Japan: Pom Poko

On Monday I got three postcards: one from Japan, one from Finland and one from France.

The card from Japan shows a scene from Pom Poko. Pom Poko is an animated movie produced by Studio Ghibli. It tells the story of a group of tanuki fighting against the destruction of their habitat by the humans. It was released in 1994.

Japan: The Wind Rises

On Wednesday I got a postcard from Japan.

It shows a scene from The Wind Rises. The Wind Rises is an animated movie produced by Studio Ghibli. It tells a fictionalized biopic of Jiro Horikoshi, a Japanese aircraft designer, and is a based on a manga by Hayao Miyazaki. It was released in 2013 and was the last movie produced by Hayao Miyazaki before his retirement.

cover from Indonesia

On 4th August I got not only four postcards but also a cover from Indonesia.

Inside were five postcards, one written and stamped card and four unwritten cards.

The written and stamped card shows the Adityawarman Museum in Padang. The Adityawarman Museum is a museum about the culture of Western Sumatra. It was opened in 1977.


Stamp:

The stamp is covered with real leather. 


The four unwritten cards show scenes from three Studio Ghibli movies. The featured movies are Howl's Moving Castle, Spirited Away and Castle in the Sky.

Japan: Ghibli Museum

On Monday I got nine postcards: five from Japan, one from the Czech Republic and three from Belgium.

One of the cards from Japan shows the Cat Bus Room at the Ghibli Museum. The Ghibli Museum is located in Mitaka in the Tokyo prefecture. It opened in 2001 and shows various exhibits about the works of Studio Ghibli.

On Monday I got nine postcards: five from Japan, one from the Czech Republic and three from Belgium.

One of the cards from Japan shows a scene from Spirited Away. Spirited Away is an animated movie produced by Studio Ghibli. It tells the story of the young girl Chihiro entering the sprit world. It was released in 2001 and won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.

On Monday I got nine postcards: five from Japan, one from the Czech Republic and three from Belgium.

One of the cards from Japan shows a scene from Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind. Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind is an animated movie directed by Hayao Miyazaki. It was released in 1984 and is considered to be the beginning of Studio Ghibli.

One of the cards from Japan shows a scene from My Neighbor Totoro. My Neighbor Totoro is an animated movie produced by Studio Ghibli. It tells the story of the sisters Satsuki and Mei and their interactions with friendly wood spirits. It was released in 1988.

Japan: Castle in the Sky

On Wednesday I got eleven postcards including one from Japan.

The card from Japan shows a scene of the movie Castle in the Sky. Castle in the Sky is a Japanese animation film by Hayao Miyazaki and is known as first movie of the famous Studio Ghibli. It is about the two orphans Sheeta and Pazu on their to find the legendary flying city Laputa. It was released in Japan in 1986.
