The University of Cambridge is one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in the World. As of 2020, 121 Nobel laureates, 11 Fields Medalists and 7 Turing Award winners are connected to the university and university alumni have won 194 Olympic medals. United Kingdom: Natural History Museum in London

Last Wednesday I got two postcards: one from the United Kingdom and one from Poland.

The card from the United Kingdom shows a Stegosaurus from the Natural History Museum in London. The Natural History Museum in London was established in 1881, when the natural history collections of the British Museum were moved to a separate site. However the museum legally remained a part of the British Museum for over eighty years. The museum is home to life and earth science specimens comprising some 80 million items within the five main collections botany, entomology, mineralogy, palaeontology and zoology. Famous exhibits of the museum include the dinosaus, especially the Diplodocus, and specimens collected by Charles Darwin. Nowadays it is both a pre-eminent centre of reasearch and one of the most visited museums in the World. During my two trips to London in 2010 and 2011 it had visited this museum, but unfortunately that was before I collected postcards. Also after eight years this is the first one I receive. It is such a special card to receive through official Postcrossing.

Also the backside of the card is nice. Beside two older Machins a stamp about Fisher Men and one showing Queen Victoria during her Diamond Jubilee were used. The latter is from a set about the House of Hanover (issued 15-09-2011).

 Thank You very much Julian!

United Kingdom: Pokemon

On 12th December I got six postcards including one from the United Kingdom.

The card was sent through official Postcrossing and shows a Pokemon illustration. I am not really into video games, but Pokemin I am playing since I am seven years old and still love it to this day.

The backside was designed with Pokemon washi tape and two stickers. The stamps are about Christmas and Harry Potter.

 Thank You very much Helen!

Its first building was erected between 1678 and 1683 to house the cabinet of curiosities that Elias Ashmole gave to the University of Oxford in 1677. The present building was built between 1841 and 1845. It houses huge collections of archaeological specimens and fine art.

United Kingdom: British Museum with Star Wars Stamps

On Saturday I got my first three cards of 2020: one from the United Kingdom, one from Lithuania and one from Thailand.

The card from the United Kingdom shows the Queen Elizabeth II Great Court of the British Museum. The British Museum in London is one of the most famous and largest museums in the World. It is dedicated to human history, art and culture. Some of its most famous exhibits include drawings of important Renaissance artists, the Parthenon Marbles, a Rapa Nui Statue, the Rosetta Stone and the Sutton Hoo Helmet. As many of these exhibits were collected during the time of the British Empire, the museum's ownership of some of them is disputed and remains the subject of international controversy.

With great stamps:
Star Wars (two from set of ten) (issued 26-11-2019)

Centenary of World War I (from set of six) (issued 28-07-2014)

The second British card shows a painting from the collection of the Imperial War Museum. The Imperial War Museum was established in 1917 to record the civil and military war effort and sacrifice of Britain and its Empire during World War I, but later it was expanded to include all conflicts in which British or Commonwealth forces have been involved since 1914. Today the museum has three branches in London and two in other parts of the country. The painting on the card is shown on the HMS Belfast in London, which is a branch of the museum since 1978.
