cover from the USA

On 12th January I got a cover from the USA.

I really like the stamps on this one. They are from a set about Spooky Silhouettes (issued 11-10-2019) and are printed with rainbow foil. The postmark about the Mayflower is equally nice. At first sight stamps and postmark do not fit very well, but I think the arrival of the pilgrims was indeed spooky for many Native Americans, a perspective which is completely absent in the philatelic celebration of the Mayflower anniversary.

Inside was the card from Barbados, which I had shown already last year. Multiple other upcoming covers also included this one, so I am not going to show it anymore every time.

 Thank You very much Sam-Quito!

covers from the USA

Well, Hello again! Long time no see. It is not like I did not get any mail in January, but once again I had no time to upload it here (it seems like I write this too often recently). The mail year 2021 already started on 4th January with three covers from the USA. These I want to show you today to have at least one post in January, but I am not sure yet, when I can upload the rest. Stay tuned!

On the first cover are three stamps just like on the other two. Beside two Winter Scenes there is one stamp about the British Surrender at Saratoga, which is part of the series about the US Bicentennial. The special postmark is also very interesting. It is about the Japanese Attack at Pearl Harbour.

In the cover was a card called Chili Ristras on Adobe, which apparently is a way to dry the chilis.

On the second cover are two vegetables, tomatos and carrots here, and a cute little stamp about ZIP codes. The postmark is about Christmas in Warrensburgh. While we did not have a white Christmas, currently it is white outside.

The card inside shows again Lake Powell. I had recently (I mean in December) got some others. Scroll down or use the label USA and you will find them.

The postmark on the third cover celebrates the 350th anniversary of Hatfield, a small town in Massachusetts. Used were two of the three stamps about the Transcontinental Railroad, which were among my favourites in 2019. A pear was used as well.

The postcard inside shows a beach view from Barbados.

 Thank You very much Sam-Quito!

cover from the USA

On Wednesday I got a cover from the USA.

Stamps:
New England Lighthouses (from set of five) (issued 13-07-2013)
Year of the Horse (issued 15-01-2014)
Johnny Cash (issued 05-06-2013)
Gingerbread Houses (from set of four) (issued 06-11-2013)
American Toleware (issued 31-05-2002)
Blue Jay (issued 02-08-1996)

Inside were postcards from five new countries: Aruba, Barbados, Curacao, Dominica and the US Virgin Islands.

Aruba is an island country in the Caribbean. It is a part of the Dutch Caribbean and is one of the four constituent countries that form the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

The card shows various views of Oranjestad, the capital and largest city of Aruba.

Barbados is an island country in the Caribbean. In 1966 became Barbados independent from the United Kingdom. It is an important tourist destination in the Caribbean.

The card shows the Parliament Buildings in Bridgetown. Bridgetown is the capital and largest city of Barbados. It is also an important port, especially for cruise ships, and the economic centre of Barbados. It is an outstanding example of British colonial architecture. Historic Bridgetown and its Garrison are since 2011 on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Curacao is an island country in the Caribbean. It is a part of the Dutch Caribbean and is one of the four constituent countries that form the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

The card shows views of the city quarters of Punda and Otrobanda in Willemstad. Willemstad is the capital of Curacao and the largest city of the Dutch Caribbean. Until 2010 it was also the capital of the Netherlands Antilles. The Historic Area of Willemstad is since 1997 on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Dominica is an island country in the Caribbean. In 1978 Dominica became independent from the United Kingdom. Its capital is Roseau.

The card shows the Trafalgar Falls in the Morne Trois Pitons National Park. The Morne Trois Pitons National Park was established in 1975 and is thus the oldest national park of Dominica. The park is a significant area of volcanic activity. Among many other species of animals it is home the Sisserou Parrot, Dominica's national bird. Since 1997 is the Morne Trois Pitons National Park on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

The US Virgin Islands are a group of islands in the Caribbean. They are an organised, unincorporated United States territory.

The card shows the Government House in Charlotte Amalie. Charlotte Amelie is a town on Saint Thomas. It is the capital of the US Virgin Islands. Today it is one of the most important ports for cruise ships in the Caribbean, but once it was a haven for pirates.

Thank You very much Chuck!
