Sri Lanka: Parliament Building in Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte

On Tuesday I got four postcards: one from Sri Lanka and three from Germany.

The card from Sri Lanka shows the Sri Lankan Parliament Building in Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte. Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte is the official capital of Sri Lanka and a satellite city and within the urban area of Sri Lanka's de-facto economic and legislative capital Colombo.

Sri Lanka: Polonnaruwa

On Tuesday I got two postcards: my first card from Sri Lanka and one from Germany.

Sri Lanka is an island country in the Indian Ocean. In 1948 the country became independent from the United Kingdom. Due to its rich cultural heritage it is a popular tourist destination. Sri Lanka is a member of the United Nations, the Commonwealth of Nations and the Non-Aligned Movement. Colombo is the country's capital and largest city.

The card shows the Galpotha in Polonnaruwa. Polonnaruwa was the second capital of Sri Lanka. Since 1982 is the Ancient City of Polonnaruwa on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
