Malta: Hypogeum of Ħal-Saflieni

On Thursday I got thirteen postcards including one from Malta.

It shows the Hypogeum of Ħal-Saflieni. The Hypogeum of Ħal-Saflieni was used in prehistoric times as necropolis and sanctuary. The Statue of the Sleeping Lady (middle) is today shown at the National Museum of Archaeology in Valletta. The Hypogeum of Ħal-Saflieni is since 1980 on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Malta: Valletta

On Tuesday I got three postcards: my first card from Malta, one from Germany and one from Thailand.

Malta is an island country in South Europe. Malta became independent from the United Kingdom in 1964. Malta is a member of the EU and introduced the Euro in 2008.

The card shows various views of Valletta. Valletta is the capital of Malta and has one of the most concentrated historic areas in the World. The city is inextricably linked to the history of the military and charitable Order of St John of Jerusalem. Since 1980 is the City of Valletta on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
