cover from the USA

On Tuesday I got a cover from the USA.

Used for postage were two complete stamp sets. The first one is about Balloons and was issued on 31st March 1983. The second set was issued on 13th June 1974 and shows different Minerals.

Inside were two postcards.

The first card is the official card of the first Southwestern Postcrossing Meet-up held on 2nd April 2016. The card was signed during that meet-up and even more special it got cancelled with a special Postcrossing postmark. So far I only knew that the third and fourth Southwestern Meet-ups got special postmarks, so it is very interesting to see that also the first one had one.

The second card shows an old poster of the Joshua Tree National Park. Joshua Tree National Park is an American national park in California. It includes parts of two deserts, the higher Mojave Desert and the lower Colorado Desert, and is named for the Joshua trees native to the Mojave Desert. Originally declared a national monument in 1936, Joshua Tree was redesignated as a national park in 1994. The poster is one of the 35000 designs created by the Works Progress Administration between 1935 and 1943 to stir the public's imagination, hence it says Joshua Tree National Monument. On the backside are postmarks of the national park.

Also in the cover were many mint older stamps from the USA and the United Nations. Here you can see just four of them. I will upload them all to my stamp blog in the next days.

Thank You very much Sam-Qiuto!
