Russia: Golden Mountains of Altai

Yesterday I received six postcards from Russia.

One of them shows the Golden Mountains of Altai. The Golden Mountains of Altai represent the most complete sequence of altitudinal vegetation zones in central Siberia, from steppe, forest-steppe, mixed forest, subalpine vegetation to alpine vegetation. The region is also an important habitat for endangered animal species such as the snow leopard. Since 1998 are the Golden Mountains of Altai a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Stamps:
Russian Kremlins-Moscow Kremlin (from set of twelve) (issued 01-10-2009)

Thank You very much Nadezhda!
