India: Atlas Moth

On Monday I got a postcard from India.

It shows an Atlas Moth. The Atlas Moth is found in the tropical and subtropical forests of Southeast Asia, Southern China and India. It is one of the largest moths in the World. In India Atlas Moths are cultivated in a non-commercial capacity for their silk, which is said to have greater durability than normal silk.
