Cocos Keeling Islands: Green Sea Turtle

On Tuesday I got six postcards: my first card from the Cocos Keeling Islands, one from Canada, one from Australia, two from New Zealand and one from Japan.

The Cocos Keeling Islands are an Australian external territory in the Indian Ocean. It consists of 27 coral islands, of which two are inhabited. West Island is the territory's capital.

The card shows a Green Sea Turtle. The Green Sea Turtle is found throughout the tropical and subtropical seas around the World. It is illegal to import, export, kill, capture or harass green turtles, but they are still endangered.

The card is a maxicard. The stamp is part of a joint Australian territories issue about species at risk and was issued on 4th August 2009. The other stamps in the set were issued for Australia, the Australian Antarctic Territory, Christmas Island and Norfolk Island.

The card is prepaid and was added with another stamp:
90th Inter-Parliamentary Conference (issued 02-09-1993)

Thank You very much Chui Choo!
