Poland: Monument of Nicolaus Copernicus in Toruń with Postcrossing postmark

On Wednesday I got two postcards: one from Poland and one from Japan.

The card from Poland shows the monument of Nicolaus Copernicus in Toruń. Nicolaus Copernicus was a mathematician and astronomer in the Renaissance. He formulated a model of the universe that placed the Sun rather than the Earth at the center of the universe, which is considered to have been one of the most important events in the history of science. He was born in Toruń in 1473. The monument was unveiled in 1853.

The card was signed during the recent Postcrossing meet-up in Toruń.
Stamp:
EUROPA (issued 24-04-2019)
with a special Postcrossing postmark showing Nicolaus Copernicus

Thank You very much Monika!
