India: Wellington Railway Station at the Nilgiri Mountain Railway

On 28th September I got two postcards: one from India and one from Germany.

The card from India shows the Wellington Railway Station at the Nilgiri Mountain Railway. The Nilgiri Mountain Railway was built by the British until 1908 and is located in Tamil Nadu. It is an narrow gauge rack railway. The railway has the steepest track in Asia with a maximum gradient of 8.33%. As one of the Mountain Railways of India is the Nilgiri Mountain Railway since 2005 on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The two other inscribed railways are the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway inscribed in 1999 and the Kalka-Shimla Railway inscribed in 2008.

Stamps:
Bicentenary of the Rajputana Rifles (issued 03-11-2018)
with a nice special train postmark from Coonoor, which was actually supposed to be the final station of the Nilgiri Mountain Railway before it was extended to Udagmandalam

Thank You very much Sriraam!
