Austria: Tiergarten Schönbrunn

On Tuesday I got five postcards from my recent trip to Vienna.

One of them shows the Tiergarten Schönbrunn. The Tiergarten Schönbrunn was established in 1754 and is thus the oldest zoo of the World being still open. It is a member of the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums. The zoo is since 1996 together with the Schönbrunn Palace and Gardens on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

With nice stamps:
Maya the Bee (two from set of four) (issued 29-08-2014)

At the zoo I also bought a postcard showing one of the Giant Pandas. The Tiergarten Schönbrunn houses at the moment three Giant Pandas. They are Yang Yang (female), Long Hui (male) and their cub Fu Bao (male). Fu Bao (born in 2013) is already the third cub of Yang Yang and Long Hui. His two brothers Fu Long (born in 2007) and Fu Hui (born in 2010) already returned to China. Because of the big breeding success the Tiergarten Schönbrunn is allowed to house Yang Yang and Long Hui for more than the usual ten years. Long Hui is separated from Yang Yang and Fu Bao as he has problems with the cub.
