Singapore: SG50

Yesterday I got four postcards: three from Singapore and one from Germany.

One of the cards from Singapore was printed to celebrate Singapore's 50th anniversary of Independence. Singapore became in independent country in 1965, when it was expelled from Malaysia due to ideological differences. Although the country had to fight various problems in its first years because of its small size and its insufficient natural resources, Singapore developed into an advanced and high-income economy as one of the Four Asian Tigers until the 1990s. In 1967 was Singapore a founding member of the ASEAN. Today is the city state the World's third largest financial centre and is ranked by Forbes as the fourth most influential city in the World.

With great matching stamp:
50 years of Independence (from set of six) (issued 05-08-2015)
with First Day Special Postmark

Thank You very much Candice!
