United Kingdom: The Kensingtons at Laventie

Yesterday I got five postcards: one from the United Kingdom, three from Germany and one from Canada.

The card from the United Kingdom is another stamp card of this year's World War I Centenary issue. The card shows the painting The Kensingtons at Laventie by Eric Kennington. Eric Kennington was a painter and sculptor when he signed up. He was wounded and discharged in 1915 and then worked on his painting. The Kensingtons at Laventie honours the fortitude and solidarity of ordinary soldiers.

With a related stamp:
Queen's Head
World War I Centenary (from set of six) (issued 14-05-2015)
The stamp shows an abstract adaptation of Poppies. The artwork was made by Howard Hodgkin.

Thank You very much Federica!
