China: Peking Man Site at Zhoukoudian

Yesterday I got seven postcards including two from China.

One of them shows the Peking Man Site at Zhoukoudian. Zhoukoudian is a cave system that is known for its archaeological findings. In 1921 one of the first specimens of Homo erectus was found there. The specimens became known as Peking Man and are from the Middle Pleistocene. The Peking Man Site at Zhoukoudian is since 1987 on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
