Japan: Kumano Hongū Taisha

On 4th December I got a postcard from Japan.

It shows the Kumano Hongū Taisha. The Kumano Hongū Taisha is a Shinto shrine deep in the rugged mountains of the Kii Peninsula in the Wakayama Prefecture. It is an outstanding example of Japanese shrine architecture and as part of the Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range it is since 2004 on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Two stamps about traditional Japanese art were used and got cancelled with a nice pictorial postmark showing a castle and cherry blossom.

Thank You very much Keiko!
